Mahabubnagar: Member of Parliament from Mahabubnagar AP Jithender Reddy said it was due to his close friendship with former Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu that 50 per cent of the State’s contribution for doubling of railway line between Mahabubnagar and Secunderabad was waived off. He said Rs 12,000 crore was borne and sanctioned in total by the Centre, for which works were in progress.

Addressing the media at his residence after returning from the winter session of Parliament on Sunday, he said a decision was taken to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh High Court after TRS MPs stalled Lok Sabha proceedings for two days.“Due to the vested interests of some people, the delay had happened. With help of Union Home Ministry and Law Ministry, which brought pressure on AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the latter has identified three places in Amaravati for the High Court. A five-member committee comprising Judges of High Court has been formed and in a week or so, they will take a decision on the location. Then, they’ll notify the President of India, who will give an order. Within 3 to 4 months, High Court’s division should be completed,” he said.

When Telangana Today asked him what would be the first major change that the people of Telangana could see after the division of High Court and who would initiate it, he said he did what his ‘boss’ ordered him to do. “I got the High Court for him. Now, it is his decision what needs to be done,” he answered.
