Seminar on history of Telangana on Jan 19-20

Hyderabad: The second international seminar on the history and heritage of Telangana State will be held at Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute (MCHRDI) between January 19 and 20.

Organised by the Department of Archaeology and Museums, the seminar, called ‘Telangana Through Ages: Perspectives From Early and Medieval Periods’ will feature 35 presentations over the two days. Seven scholars of international repute will speak, Director of the Department NR Visalatchy told ‘Telangana Today’.

“There will also be four lecture-cum-demonstrations, where artistes will perform folk dances or songs to elaborate on the information provided by the speakers. At cultural talks, such performances are not new, but it would be a first for Telangana,” said Visalatchy.

The two-day seminar aims to trace the historic roots of Telangana in the fields of art, architecture, history, iconography, and more.

Among the many speakers at the seminar will be KK Muhammed, Dr Nizamuddin Taher, Babji Rao, Lingala Panduranga Reddy, Madhu Votter, Fatima Bilgrami, Mohammed Suleman Siddiqi, Salma Ahmed Farooqui, Dr KP Rao, S Uday Bhanu, Dr D Dayalan, Naman P Ahuja, Dr T Satyamurthy and Dr D Raja Reddy.
