Andhra Pradesh director general of police R.P. Thakur on Tuesday informed the Hyderabad High Court that he has issued orders to police commissioners superintendents of police not to produce the accused/suspects before the media. It may be recalled that the High Court on July 3 had found fault with the DGP for filing an affidavit justifying the act of police in parading the accused/ suspects before the media stating that it was a common practice.

The DGP had submitted the revised affidavit assuring the court that hereafter the police will strictly follow the Supreme Court order in this regard. A division bench had earlier directed the DGP to explain under which provisions of the law the police are parading the accused before the media as it infringes the Right to Privacy of the citizen.
