CBIT (Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology) has once again issued a circular enhancing its fee to Rs 86,500. However, parents are against this move as they had got an assurance from the Education Minister in December 2017 that the college could not collect any additional fee without the Government Order.Telangana Parents Association (TPA) has condemned the CBIT circular. They said that, “It is unilateral and arbitrary and against an earlier assurance given to the parents in a circular on December 16, 2017 and is spreading mental agony among the parents of about 2,000 students.”

Mr N. Narayana, President, TPA, said that the college management had no right to increase the fee, without the Government Order. Last time when there was a hike, it was left to the parents’ wisdom, but this time the management was insisting that the payment be made by this month end, or face a penalty of `.50/ a day.For Engineering colleges in Telangana, the fee structure is decided by Telangana Admission Fee Regulation Committee.

After the committee decides, then the report is sent to the government, and at the end, the Government issues an Order. Only then the fee hike can be implemented. The college increased the fee after it got the court’s approval, however no Government Order was passed. CBIT Principal, Mr Ravinder Reddy, said , “We gave out the same circular as last year where we asked the second years to pay the same amount.”
