KCR directed TRS MPs to put pressure on centre

The TRS, which has been requesting the Centre to resolve pending state issues, resolved at its Parliamentary Party meeting on Thursday to confront the NDA government during the ongoing Winter Sessions of Parliament. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao held the TRS Parliamentary Party meeting at Telangana Bhavan wherein it was decided all MPs would attend the sessions from Monday and question the Centre in Parliament for not responding the demands of the Telangana government. 

Mr Jitender Reddy told mediapersons that the Chief Minister had so far met Prime Minister Narendra Modi 30 times to requested him to implement promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 but there was no positive response.

He said that the party had listed out the 52 items including the permission for airstrips at Warangal, Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar and Nizamabad, establishment of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, reservation to Muslims and Schedule Tribes and bifurcation of the High Court.

He said that the state government had allotted land for the airstrips and made the payments sought by the Centre but sanction had not been granted.Pointing out that the Prime Minister had not shown any concern for Telangana, despite of personal requests by Mr Rao, he said the party MPs would highlight the state’s demands during the Parliament session besides personally representing to the ministers concerned. 

The MP said that the TRS had demanded the Centre have a separate ministry for Backward Classes to linking the NREGA scheme with agriculture. He said the Centre had not responded to the state’s demand to amend the Constitution to provide reservations for the BC, SC, ST and minority communities based on the state’s priorities.
