Sangareddy Collector Visited Sheri Tanda

District Collector M Hanumantha Rao who had decided to adopt Sheri Tanda, a 100 per cent Lamabada village in Narayanakhed mandal in Sangareddy district, visited the hamlet on Tuesday. The tanda residents had elected an all-woman team in the recent gram panchayat election, making it the only village in the State to be administered entirely by Lambada women.

A week ago, the Collector said he would soon visit the village. “It is our responsibility to support such a wonderful village,” he said.

After conducting a constituency-level review meeting in Naranayakhed Assembly constituency, the Collector, along with other officials, visited the tanda. Rao congratulated sarpanch Samkabai Keluth, deputy sarpanch Mukthabai Keluth and ward members on their victory. He appreciated the entire village, particularly the men, for elected an all-woman team.

Rao felicitated the entire team and vowed to make the village a model panchayat in the State. He instructed the officials to visit the village to identify issues and development works it needed by conducting a meeting. Rao assured the villagers that officials would visit Sheri Tanda frequently to know their issues.

The Collector asked the officials to implement all the welfare schemes in the village. He also urged the villagers to admit their children in school to make it a 100 per cent literate tribal village. Earlier, the villagers accorded a traditional welcome to the VIP. To mark the beginning of his work, the Collector participated in Shramadan by digging a soak pit. Rao called upon the villagers to dig one soak pit in each house to show the way to others in water conservation.
