Sangareddy MLA T. Jagga Reddy has targeted Siddipet MLA and former Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao yet again holding him responsible for Singur Dam going dry for the first time in its history and accused him of illegally releasing water to Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) in 2017 without the knowledge of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.

Demanding the apology of Mr. Harish Rao at a press conference here on Wednesday, he accused him of bringing pressure on the officials to release water from dead storge level using his powers as the Irrigation Minister. This was a huge injustice to the combined Medak district, he said adding that that Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao would not have allowed it had he known the Minister’s decision.

He said Mr. Harish Rao and the officials involved should explain the reason why the water was released ignoring the interests of Medak district. He charged Mr. Harish Rao with being aware of the fact that Singur was the source for the Mission Bhageerata project in the district and demanded Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao take action against him as people of Medak were suffering due to Harish’s action.

Mr. Jagga Reddy also alleged that he was put in jail because of Mr. Harish Rao as he knew that the issue would be raised by him if he won in the Assembly elections. “It is my duty now to question on behalf of Medak district,” he claimed. He demanded that the State government release ? 10 crore immediately for meeting the drinking water needs of Sangareddy district.

Meanwhile, Jagga Reddy’s wife Nirmala submitted an application at the TPCC office seeking Medak Parliamentary seat for her. Mr. Reddy had been demanding that his family be given chance to contest from Medak. In fact, he contested in the by-election after Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao resigned from Medak constituency in 2014.
