KTR offers house to ice-gola vendor

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday reminisced about how at school, ice-gola was one of the high points. The ice-gola vendor at St George’s Grammar School, where he studied was Syed Ali alias Chaush.
About a fortnight ago, one Mohammed Mahboob Ali tweeted to the Sircilla MLA: “Dear @KTRTRS Saab, Chaush(ice gola) of St. George’s Grammar School wants to meet you, Please make his wish a reality(sic).”
Responding to the tweet, Mr Rama Rao said “Absolutely would love to meet him. Have some wonderful memories of Chaush (sic).”
On Thursday, Mr Rama Rao met the 70-year-old at the Camp Office in Hyderabad. In a walk down the memory lane, the TRS working president recalled buying ice-gola from Mr Ali about 30 years ago.
During the interaction, Mr K.T. Rama Rao enquired about Mr Ali’s health and asked if he needed assistance. On learning about his poor financial condition, Mr Rama Rao assured that he would sanction a home and old-age pension for him. He also promised to help with the employment of his children.
The ice-gola vendor was very touched by the kind gesture and said, “I have heard a lot about Mr Rama Rao and never thought I would be able to meet him.” He thanked Mr Rama Rao for promising help in his old age.
